In early 2024, Wayne Rooney’s previous employer, Birmingham City, gave him his marching orders after his final visit to Elland Road ended in loss.

The former Manchester United forward will be hoping for a better result this time, but given Leeds’ recent performance—they have gone undefeated in their previous seven games—three points will be difficult to obtain. Plymouth has also failed to score in six of its seven away games this season across all competitions, which does not bode well for a team poised to pull an upset in LS11.

Junior Firpo returns to the team after serving a one-match suspension for receiving five yellow cards, although Jayden Bogle, the full-back on the opposing team, will miss the Pilgrims’ visit for the same reason.

If the 31-year-old has recovered from that match without suffering any injuries, the Leeds manager is probably going to start backup defender Sam Byram on the opposite team from the one he started against Bristol City at Ashton Gate last Saturday.

With Bogle’s mandated absence and the absence of Largie Ramazani, Ilia Gruev, and Ethan Ampadu, the manager is anticipated to provide a comprehensive injury update at 1:30 this afternoon.

Max Wober, a defender, has improved in his recuperation from a knee injury in recent weeks and may play next week when Leeds visits Millwall and then hosts Queens Park Rangers in a short period of time.
