Leeds United will fire Daniel Farke if manager is unable to lead his club to promotion after they lost in the previous season’s playoff final.
The manager will be under pressure if results stop going their way, according to former Leeds custodian Paul Robinson, who is still well-connected at the team, who spoke on the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.
Farke is under less pressure now that Leeds is within three points of Sunderland in first position following a solid run of play.
However, some Elland Road supporters are still certain that the manager is not the best candidate for the position after the team’s loss to Southampton in the playoff final last season.
Since promotion to the Premier League has become so important, he would almost probably be fired if he failed to make it on his second try this season.
In order to balance the books in the summer, the club had to cash in on players like Archie Grey and Crysenico Summerville, which put Elland Road in a difficult financial position.
Leeds would have a terrible season on and off the pitch if they were to play in the Championship again, and the manager would be fired.
Robinson has now stated that if they appear to be losing out on promotion at the conclusion of the season, there would be significant questions raised.
“Playing in the Premier League is a prerequisite,” he told Football Insider.
“There is a problem as soon as Leeds loses a game, drops out of the top two, or exits the playoffs and appears to be out of the running for promotion.
“They’ve shown what they can do now, and they came so close last year.”
They were preseason favourites to advance because of the group of players he had at his disposal.
“There are serious concerns about his job if he doesn’t lead Leeds United this season.
“You anticipate that the manager will remove those players from the Championship.
“At the moment, you stick with him and give him the remainder of the season, but if he doesn’t do it this year, there will be serious questions raised.”
