As Rangers prepare to play Dundee United at Ibrox on Saturday, Philippe Clement has provided an update on his team.
Neraysho Kasanwirjo is scheduled to see a surgeon on Friday, November 22, therefore he will be out for the longer term and will not play in the match on November 23 at Ibrox.
According to Clement, Ross McCausland and Ridvan Yilmaz are both eligible against Dundee United after reportedly recovering from a foot injury.
In addition to Kasanwirjo, Oscar Cortes and Rabbi Matondo will not be allowed to play.
“Kasanwirjo will see a surgeon today, and we will have more information over the weekend – definitely a longer-term injury,” Clement stated.
“An injury to all, but particularly to him. Football is particularly difficult because he was adjusting rather well.
“It’s good that Ross (McCausland) is back after having a foot problem. It was a good international break for the other boys. The club benefited greatly from John Souttar’s two extremely strong performances.
“Matondo won’t be able to play this weekend due to a little issue.
“It is very encouraging that Cortes will be returning to train with the team next week.”
The injury to Neraysho Kasanwirjo is a major setback for the Rangers.
At Ibrox, the 22-year-old seemed to get off to a quick start and was virtually assured of playing time or perhaps starting every game.
Although Clement was impressed by his ability to play both centre defence and full back, the Belgian will regrettably not be able to rely on him.
The footage of his injury that surfaced looked horrifying, and one may understandably be afraid of the worst because it did not appear pleasant to say the least.
There are even worries that he might suffer an ACL injury, which would be disastrous because it would end his season too soon.
It would be a huge relief if the surgeon evaluates it and finds it to be less serious than initially thought.
The players should be energised by this setback and be ready to take on Dundee United on Saturday.
In other Rangers news, there has been an update regarding Nils Koppen’s duties at Ibrox and his ability to fire Philippe Clement.
