According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Leeds United is still expected to make about £10 million annually from their new contract with Adidas even though they were not promoted back to the Premier League.

Prior to their first season back in the top flight in 2020, the West Yorkshire giants and the German manufacturer reached an initial five-year agreement.

The club is thought to have made about £10 million a season in what was a record-breaking arrangement.

Leeds announced on Wednesday, October 30, that they have finally reached an agreement to extend their collaboration with Adidas.

After being relegated in 2023, Daniel Farke’s team was unable to immediately return to the Premier League, therefore they are playing in the Championship this season.

However, insiders have told Football Insider that the terms of the new Adidas contract would probably be the same as those of their prior one, and that the £10 million amount may be a forecast rather than a fixed price.

Given that Newcastle United agreed to identical provisions in their contract with Adidas, their total earnings from the partnership would be reliant on Elland Road apparel sales.

This season, Leeds United’s shirt sales set a new record.
Following a record-breaking debut for their away uniform this season—selling 15,000 shirts on the first day alone—Leeds announced the extension.

During the first 24 hours, that number represented more shirt sales than any other strip in the club’s history.

According to a UEFA assessment, Leeds made £28.6 million from the sale of their uniforms and other items in 2022–2023—their final season in the Premier League—ranking them 16th in Europe.

According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Adidas most likely accepted the terms of the agreement with the hope that the Yorkshire club will return to the Premier League during the following five years.

However, Leeds’ contract is far less valuable than Adidas’s agreements with several elite teams; Manchester United’s arrangement is worth £90 million annually, Arsenal makes £75 million, and Newcastle makes £30 million.
