Following the injuries to Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev this past week, Daniel Farke has few choices in midfield at Leeds United, and the necessity to add a new player to the team is mounting.

Farke has alluded to attracting a free agent to Leeds, but Christoph Kramer, the victor of the 2014 World Cup, has no intention of working with Farke again. After leaving Gladbach, the German want to stay in his native nation.

Joe Rothwell and Ao Tanaka are Leeds’ last senior midfield options. In Leeds’ last two games, against Norwich and Sunderland, Charlie Crew and Sam Chambers have been benched.

Max Wober and Pascal Struijk both have midfield versatility. However, the latter is hurt, and as a result, Struijk is without a centre-back substitute. Farke is going to have to deal with this in the coming months.

However, a recent source indicates that Jordan Henderson, the former captain of Liverpool, may be on the move once more after leaving Anfield in the summer of 2023, and might be the solution to Leeds’ problems.

Championship clubs are showing interest in Jordan Henderson.
According to The Sun, teams in the Premier League and Championship are on high alert regarding a potential transfer for 34-year-old Henderson. Henderson, the captain of Ajax, finds it difficult to lead the Dutch behemoths every week.

After leaving Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq, there might be a tax issue, but Henderson is certain there isn’t one. January is just a few months away, thus Henderson might make a comeback to English football.

According to the article, Illan Meslier’s error on Friday night has Sunderland, his boyhood team, at the top of the Championship table. A potential return is being touted. But Henderson is a good midfield player, and Leeds needs one.

Leeds’ problem needs to be resolved before the end of January.
If Henderson could get away from Ajax immediately, a short-term loan arrangement would be ideal. However, since the transfer window closes on January 1st, a Leeds move is not feasible.

Leeds needs more people immediately. Leeds needs a midfield presence until Ampadu and Gruev return, and Henderson would be perfect—that is, if he doesn’t want to stay with Ajax.

That might materialise if his playing time doesn’t change. Henderson might draw attention if Ampadu or Gruev have a setback during their rehabilitation, but Leeds urgently need a fresh signing. Without a doubt, though, only a select few clubs could entice and financially support Henderson if he were to drop into the Championship. One team that may seek the 81-time England star is Leeds.
